{"id":3070,"date":"2009-03-23T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2009-03-23T00:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/christiebeaulac.com\/?p=3070"},"modified":"2009-03-23T00:00:00","modified_gmt":"2009-03-23T00:00:00","slug":"weekend-getaway-ace-hotel-and-swim-club","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.thelooksee.com\/weekend-getaway-ace-hotel-and-swim-club\/","title":{"rendered":"Weekend getaway: Ace Hotel and Swim Club"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Sorry for the lack of posts- the hubby and I went out of town for our 3rd anniversary this weekend.\u00a0 We headed out on Friday morning and got back yesterday.\u00a0 It was a leisurely weekend at the newly opened <a href=\"http:\/\/www.acehotel.com\/palmsprings\/rooms\" target=\"_blank\" onclick=\"javascript:urchinTracker('\/outbound\/www.acehotel.com\/palmsprings\/rooms');\">Ace Hotel and Swim Club<\/a> in Palm Springs, mostly spent in the pool.\u00a0 One day we ventured out into downtown Palm Springs, but I can&#8217;t really say that I felt there was much to report.\u00a0 It&#8217;s one of those places that requires a local to show you the good stuff.\u00a0\u00a0 Anyway, we made good use of the Amigo Room and Kings Highway restaurant which are part of the Ace Hotel.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/farm4.static.flickr.com\/3469\/3376465621_18e7df2570.jpg?v=1237760465\" title=\"ace hotel, kings highway, swim club, amigo room, palm springs, the looksee\" alt=\"ace hotel, kings highway, swim club, amigo room, palm springs, the looksee\" height=\"500\" width=\"333\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"http:\/\/www.acehotel.com\/palmsprings\/rooms\" target=\"_blank\" onclick=\"javascript:urchinTracker('\/outbound\/www.acehotel.com\/palmsprings\/rooms');\">Kings Highway Restaurant<\/a> is very tasty&#8230; everything is presented in mason jars or glass bottles, which is lovely.\u00a0 It has the atmosphere of old diner which has been revamped into a more cleanly-modern establishment.\u00a0 My favourite meal was their ricotta pancakes with maple crunch butter.\u00a0 When you order their coffee, you pay about $4 for a french press full of rich and delicious Stumptown coffee, perfect for a table of two.\u00a0 Seth ordered their brisket burger and fries, which was apparently amazing.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/farm4.static.flickr.com\/3624\/3381521422_5cb114af7d.jpg?v=0\" title=\"ace hotel, kings highway, swim club, amigo room, palm springs, the looksee\" alt=\"ace hotel, kings highway, swim club, amigo room, palm springs, the looksee\" height=\"281\" width=\"500\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/farm4.static.flickr.com\/3541\/3381484512_6909ebed8c.jpg?v=0\" title=\"ace hotel, kings highway, swim club, amigo room, palm springs, the looksee\" alt=\"ace hotel, kings highway, swim club, amigo room, palm springs, the looksee\" height=\"333\" width=\"500\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/farm4.static.flickr.com\/3631\/3381481978_7c68d29f55.jpg?v=0\" title=\"ace hotel, kings highway, swim club, amigo room, palm springs, the looksee\" alt=\"ace hotel, kings highway, swim club, amigo room, palm springs, the looksee\" height=\"333\" width=\"500\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Out by the pool we ordered boozy snowcones and beer.\u00a0 Pretty awesome.\u00a0 The <a href=\"http:\/\/www.acehotel.com\/palmsprings\/rooms\" target=\"_blank\" onclick=\"javascript:urchinTracker('\/outbound\/www.acehotel.com\/palmsprings\/rooms');\">Amigo Room<\/a> bar had what seemed to be great drink specials on their menu like: &#8220;Whiskey Ginger&#8221;- Jameson Irish whiskey, honey, ginger juice &#038;
