For everyone up in the San Fransisco area, I mentioned before that our friend Zach Rossman is having his first solo show at Park Life. I just found out that it is opening this Friday. Go! It will be beautiful.

I have been impressed with a few more shows this fashion week (like Doo.Ri, Jeremy Laing, 3.1 Phillp Lim, and Marc by Marc) but I was especially struck by the accessories by Lizzie Fortunato in the VPL show.

I also really loved the stained glass necklaces in the 3.1 Phillip Lim show. Not sure who designed them though.

So far this SS09 fashion week Marc Jacobs is the only collection that has captured my attention for more that a split second. He presented a lovely collection combining metallics, plaids, stripes, and solids- which could have been a mish-mash disaster, but was quite successfully executed. It was very fun, and was much more visually interesting than his last few collections. There are some beautiful woven metallic patterns which I loved (see the detail shots). I felt that the only weakness in the collection were the shoes.

Typically I’m not into crystal/geode necklaces, nor am I into the mystical “healing” aspect of them. I will, however, make an aesthetic exception for these. Very rad.

My dear friend Kim made these for me as an early birthday present. I love them! They’re floursack towels that have been embroidered (by her) with the likenesses of my husband and me. I hung them in my kitchen window as a sort of valance. Thanks again Kim.

I found these placemats the other day (a set of 100- still in plastic) at my favourite thrift store, but didn’t buy, as I was feeling cheap… I went back today and they were still there! I took it as a sign. If anyone is interested in buying any, email me and I can list them on Etsy. Otherwise they’ll be fun to wrap little presents with. Even though I said I’m sick to death of woodland creatures, I was charmed by the faux crosstitch on these…
