So… I am wondering what you all thought of Michelle Obama’s dress on Tuesday. I frankly was surprised by her choice of this Narciso Rodriguez dress… I didn’t think that it was very photogenic, nor was it terribly appropriate. She’s made great dress choices thus far, in my opinion, but wasn’t too keen on this one. What was your impression?

I love these two necklaces from Aurelie Bidermann that were featured on Style.com (very different from what’s up on her site at the moment).

People make such great shoes for men these days. I’m a little jealous.

I featured Backlund’s sculptural knits a while back. Here are some looks from her SS09 collection.

My favourite part of the Huntington is the cacti and succulent garden. If you are in LA near Pasadena and like plants (or extremely rare books), you should definitely pay it a visit.

I love these two items from Mother Mother, a fair trade line out of Denmark. Cute men’s things too.

I don’t usually post much food-related stuff that often, but I thought I’d just mention that I made this recipe from Heidi over at 101 Cookbooks (clearly, the gorgeous photo below is hers, not mine)… it is such a good soup recipe! Seth and I came back from Portland with colds, and so were feeling like soup would be great when I saw this recipe was posted. I added some soy-chorizo to mine at the end for protein, and I definitely recommend it. Delicious (especially if you don’t mind a little spicyness and want it to be more filling). It was very satisfying and hearty. Heidi’s notes say that it doesn’t make good leftovers, but I didn’t find that to be true with mine. Maybe because I didn’t leave any broccoli in the leftovers…?
