Hand puppets

I have 3 friends who are expecting babies in the next several months, so baby presents are on my mind… I was at Anthropologie the other day and found these adorable felt puppets which are so remniscent of 60’s puppets. I felt inspired to try making something similar. If I actually do attempt and succeed I’ll post photos of the end result, but for now, take a look at these…

Muji at MoMA

Ah Muji… beautifully un-branded, well-designed Japanese products. I’ve always loved their sexy office supplies, but these kids toys are so cute too (and priced pretty fairly)!

Justin Fines: Animation for Yo Gabba Gabba

I really liked this animation by Justin Fines for Yo Gabba Gabba. The song has a very sweet message too, by Dean and Britta from Luna. In case you aren’t familar with YGG, it’s a show that’s geared towards the children of parents who are 20 to 30-something and nostalgic for vintage Sesame Street (ie: when it was cool and sort of psychedelic). Our friend Scott Windes works on the show, and Seth has even contributed too so we’re a bit partial, but we really like what they’re doing over there. It’s a show that you can appreciate creatively, even if you don’t have kids.

The Matching Game

The Matching Game” at Rare Device… a well-designed, silkscreened version of the classic “Memory” game we’ve all played at one time or another.

Etsy find: Sonia Romero

I like these sweetly old-fashioned linocut prints from Sonia Romero. The whole alphabet is available (in different colours) in her Etsy store.
