Alexander McQueen Spring 2011
Though I can only imagine how difficult it must have been to design this collection so soon after the tragic death of Alexander McQueen, I think that Sarah Burton deserves much respect for this collection, as it is most definitely in keeping with the progressive McQueen aesthetic. Truly beautiful.
Marni Resort 2011
Hey there boys and girls. Sorry I’ve been a little absent, but I’ve been working pretty regularly, and I was away this past weekend for a birthday celebration in San Diego with my husband (which was so nice and relaxing).
Anyway, I’m back, and I’m fairly sure my neighbours heard me exclaiming/shrieking while looking at this collection. While I do love collections that go all out, over-the-top like this fall’s Givenchy collection (which is breathtaking), I get more excited over things I’d actually want to wear. Call it my die-hard practical side. Marni is one of those collections, along with a few others, that I can generally look at and think “yes, I want to wear that” about at least half of the collection. What’s even more mind-blowing to me is that the clothes that are in a runway show are only a fraction of the actual collection.
Etsy purchase: Vintage Italian Cut-Out Sandals
So I feel like I totally scored with these sandals that I purchased here. They were a little more than I’d usually spend on a pair of vintage sandals, especially given that when you buy online it’s difficult to gauge softness, comfort, etc. but well… these are amazing. Made with thick yet buttery soft leather, they seem to never have been worn, they appear to be hand-stitched, and the Italian label on the inside (”Calzolaio del Borro Palaia”) translates to “Shoemaker in the Gully Palaia”. So I guess it’s safe to say that they were hand-made in Palaia, Italy (which is in Tuscany) by some talented artisan, brought to America, and never worn. In a size 10, no less. Wow. My feet and I feel privileged.
Not the greatest photos of the sandals- Milo was really trying to make this photoshoot about him rather than my new shoes.

Urban Revisions Jewelry by Arlie Trowbridge
Love the newly added jewelry division of this shop. There’s something about this free hand lampwork that reminds me a bit of Arielle de Pinto’s pieces. Really lovely.
Raphael Hauber
I love these rag-rug style leggings by Raphael Hauber. A new take on something I grew up with.

Etsy Vintage Pick: Vintage 14k gold and bone skull ring
Even though ultimately I would never wear this, I think that it’s amazing! It’s from the 1970’s and is 14k gold which is crazy considering what it is. I could see this on someone like Daphne Guinness perhaps.
