Style icon: Cecilia Dean

I love pretty much whatever Cecilia Dean wears. She always looks amazing, confident, and elegant. Take this outfit for example, this is from a recent “Decadent Chic” themed party in the Hamptons. She didn’t realize there was a theme, and this is still what she wore… a flawless outfit from H&M (!)- minus the shoes and pom-poms.   Who else could pull off the pom-pom headwear?!  Her style sense is really an inspiration.

Kram/Weisshaar for Nymphenburg

Not sure if it gets more bourgeois than this, but I have to admit, it’s a lovely idea.  They will create plates depicting the way the sky looked on the night you were born…   something quite romantically appealing about that.

Powers of 10

This is a big “duh,” but I re-watched the Eames’ Powers of 10 video the other day, and was impressed all over again by how awesome it is.  I recommend a watch, a re-watch, or sharing it with a child over the age of five.  If I were, say, a 6th grade math teacher, I would be all about showing this to my class every year.

Alexander Ver Huell

I love these phantasmagorical images by Ver Huell featured on BiblioOdyssey.

Next project…

My husband had the fantastic idea to build a geodesic dome trellis and document the progress… this summer will be the summer of the Bucky garden! I was looking for things on Ebay and found this book… awesome!! Not cheap either. But certainly in the vein of what my husband is planning. Being the plant person, I’m in charge of what gets to go on the vine… at the moment I’m thinking a variegated creeping fig… it clings closely to whatever it’s climbing, so it will climb nicely, and the two-tone colours will be nice… my other idea is clematis.

Perhaps next we can build a greenhouse…

Kathryn Van Dyke

Sorry for the lack of posts this week.  I’ve got a few excuses… finals, crappy week, and nothing worth posting!  Until today that is.

Lady lavender

I think this girl and her outfit are pretty much perfect (as captured during Berlin Fashion Week by Ivan over at FaceHunter)…

A gentle reprove from the George Eastman House…

I received this email from Ryan Donahue at the George Eastman House..

“Just a minor point, the post implies GEH is a historical society, whereas we are actually a museum, whose focus is primarily photography and film (and, by extension, George Eastman)”

Duly noted… museum, not historical society…

Vintage find: Circus toys

This was a fun find. There are 42 pcs. in all- this photo is half of of them- there are more seals, some tigers, and more bears.
