My own Wolplamuur project
November 18th, 2009 | socially responsible, vintage, textiles, designSo as you know, I was extremely inspired by this project by Heleen Klopper which I posted about a few weeks ago. So I went out, bought some felting needles and dyed roving (lazy) and went at it! Two down and a bunch more to go. Just thought I’d share. It’s really a lot of fun…

I am so attracted to this! I understand Heleen will be producing a ‘kit’ but it’s unlikely to be available to me, and it seems like something you don’t need a kit for…if only I understood just how you did it. And what is “roving” (definitely not an American term) ?

Hi Maria- Yes you really just need to have some felting needles and some roving (easily found online). You should also have some dense foam to put on the back of what you’re felting so you don’t break your needles or felt through to something else.
Roving is wool that hasn’t been spun into yarn. Basically just dyed or undyed wool that has been carded and cleaned.
