This video is absolutely mesmerizing. I very rarely post videos, and this is the second this week (!) but it seemed like a shame not to pass this on.
“Certain liquids obey the laws of crystallization. Under a polarizing microscope, we observe transformations in structure, form and color with certain changes in temperature and pressure. 1. Smectic to cholesteric transition, isotropic liquid 2. Smectic rods 3. Supercooling of a cholesteric form.”
You may remember that I have a girl crush on Miranda July (also Amy Sedaris, and a few others). Anyway, Kate posted a piece about this photo series that July made for Vice where she poses as extras from various movies. Not like bit characters, but straight-up extras. Love these.
Ever since I watched the Paper Rad “Trash Talkin’” movie almost a year ago, I’ve had this dorky yet rad version of “Jive Talkin’” stuck in my head. Now it can be stuck in your head too. You should totally watch that movie, by the way, unless you’re susceptible to seizures. A visit to their site will give you a clue as to why I make that disclaimer. There is an even more amazing video that goes along with the classic “Don’t Worry Be Happy” song, but there’s not a good copy of it on ye olde YouTube.
This video is absolutely fantastic. 60’s fashion by Rudi Gernreich at its best.
I love how Peggy Moffitt still dresses like this. My husband and I were just discussing how it’s like “hey the 60’s were my era, and I know it… and I still want to live it.” She still looks glamourous and mod even though she’s 70 this year.
One of my favourite scenes from a musical. Love the costumes by Cecil Beaton, the choreography, everything. I think I can say without a doubt that My Fair Lady is one movie that I know by heart.
